Face to face and
out of this world!
out of this world!
Ever wondered how thrilling it would be to come face-to-face with a Martian? Or how about Darth Vader, or even The Predator?
Well, visitors will find out when they attend the remarkable one-off "Invasion" exhibition, which brings together an army of famous - and infamous - aliens and monsters from Hollywood's biggest sci-fi blockbusters.
The collection of fabulous movie props and costumes is guaranteed to scare - and thrill.
On show are a number of creatures from the massive hit Aliens, which starred Sigourney Weaver. And it's not just the ordinary aliens; visitors will have the opportunity to get close to the queen alien and the terrifying "face hugger" - if they dare.
And not to be left out, Predator is also a favourite of the exhibition. He's not pretty!
However, full size Martians from Mars Attack and the horrific alien host from the X-files movie aside, there are some cute aliens, too. The cuddly Ewok will be there along with Jawas, Yoda and Chewbacca from Star Wars.
But be warned, there is also an early Darth Vader costume and a storm trooper or two hanging around. Though Marvin the Martian should keep things in order.
Star attraction has to be the massive transporter spaceship model from the opening scene of the Lost In Space movie.
This exhibition has created a huge wave of interest wherever it's been. Thousands have flocked to see the costumes and props from the big sci-fi productions. We expect people to be equally enthralled and perhaps a little frightened! Staring into The Predator's eyes is an unsettling experience!
A monster hit at Torquay Museum, breaking all visitor records - up to 1000 visitors per day!
"Not only has INVASION been a spectacular stand-alone success in attracting visitors," says Carl Smith of Torquay Museum, "but it has also increased interest in our static collections and improved our customer loyalty - a vital aspect of the long-term health of the museum."

Creatures, costumes and props from everyone's favourite movies, together for the first time ever in one touring exhibition.
A blockbusting exhibition of sci-fi movie props and costumes.
In fact, everything you need for a spectacular, successful, engaging and educational temporary exhibition.
Works within any size of venue.

ALIEN INVASION MORE THAN TREBLES VISITOR NUMBERS AT TORQUAY MUSEUM
Torquay Museum's visitor numbers were launched into orbit when it exceeded its visitor target for 2009 in just ten weeks thanks to INVASION, a touring exhibition provided by Scottish company Ideas. Nineteen thousand visitors came through a museum which expected to see 5,000 in the whole of 2009.
On the busiest day, over 1,000 visitors came to see the display of creatures, props and costumes from landmark and popular science fiction films and television series such as Alien, Lost in Space, Mars Attacks, Predator, Robocop, Star Wars, Terminator and The X-Files. Previously, the highest number of visitors the museum attracted in a day was 300.
"INVASION has its roots in a project commissioned for the Zenith Project some years ago" explains Don Jack, Creative Director of Ideas, the design consultancy that provided the exhibition. "We were asked to create a vision for a £20m visitor attraction, indoor ski centre and water park for Scarborough's North Bay. One of our proposals: UFOLand, evolved into INVASION, an exhibition which has since appeared in many museums and tourist attractions over the years."
"Because Ideas is a full service creative agency," he continues, "we can advise on and provide related merchandising, vital in maximising the profitability of any exhibition. We have enormous experience in developing interactive and educational events, workshops, guest appearances and bolt-on event ideas which we know work, because our clients have used them in the past to great effect .
"INVASION is one of a range of touring exhibitions developed by IDEAS' exhibitions arm, which includes CELEBRITY - a collection of personal belongings from the world of show business ranging from Marilyn Monroe's tiara to Geri Halliwell's platform boots; ROBOTS - life size robots, cyborgs and androids from television and cinema and ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS - an exhibition of the must-have toys and games from the last 50 years of Christmas mornings.
Principal funding sponsorship is currently provided by IDEAS whose support is hereby acknowledged.

N. B. We recommend that you familiarise yourself with collection prior to booking.
The general condition of these items props and costumes is entirely consistent with use and purpose. In some case, distressed appearance is what gives these props their sense of reality, allowing us to suspend our belief. This aged patina is achieved by the prop-maker and accentuated by lighting on set or CGI. For the most part, these items were not created for close scrutiny nor ironically for display. Although movie props and costumes are NOT are as slick as they can appear on screen, it is this very quality which make this such a fascinating and seductive exhibition. It's a behind the scenes look at a unique part of movie making history.
And finally......Due to the rigors of transportation, it is likely that on arrival at the venue, all plinths will require to be painted, indeed we would reccomend this. For best results please use silk or satin paint applied by small radiator roller.
