The Scottish Creative Media Centre project has taken a leap forward as the prospect of a permanent location becomes more likely. Much of the discussion to date has been centred around the concept: a centre where the business community and the general public can interact, sharing ideas and ambitions with a common goal to develop their skills in all forms of creativity. Typically someone may wish to document an issue with local community impact, this may be picked up and represented in many different forms - a documentary film, a series of paintings, a website, poetry, a play or musical composition. It is hoped that the skills required to carry out such activities could be brought to the centre and shared with all interested parties, attracting sponsorship in cases of large scale ongoing community or commercial projects. The Media Centre would be largely self-funding through commercial applications however, the project has already attracted interest from other funding agents.
