invasion
alien characters

A collection of robots, cyborgs and androids

Robots come in all shapes and sizes. Some are friendly, others helpful, and a few are simply scary.
And an exciting exhibition showcases robots in all their guises, with a collection of robots, cyborgs and androids on display.
It's not often that members of the public get the opportunity to meet some of the metal stars of the big screen face to face. But visitors will get up close and personal with famous names such as Robby the Robot and the Numan robot from Shawcraft.

Film fans will also recognise the B9 robot from Lost in Space, and the cyborg Robo Cop.

Although these were all "good guys" , no exhibition would be complete without the darker side, which is represented by robots such as the ABC robot from Judge Dredd.

Firm favourites R2D2 and a Battle Droid will be on display along with such non-human stars as Sonny, who starred alongside Will Smith in the film I, Robot.

And do you remember when Tomorrow's World promised us that we would have household robots? Well, where are they? In answer, you can see the R.A.D. robots 1.0 and 4.0 - personal robots designed to serve drinks and eavesdrop on other peoples conversations.

With so much on show, visitors will be spoiled for choice. And around every corner lurks another metallic star - from The Terminator to Scooter. They're all there.

This new exhibition is expected to create a huge wave of interest. We expect people to be enthralled... and perhaps a little frightened! Few have faced up to an Alien cyborg and lived to tell the tale!

Everything you need for a spectacular, successful, engaging and educational temporary exhibition.
Works within any size of venue.

Art Factory - Robot (21 July - 28 August) attracted over 5000 visitors to the turnpike Gallery this summer, making it one of the most popular exhibitions during the last decade.

This family-friendly show was accompanied by a variety of drop-in activiities devised by the gallery, and in addition, over 700 adults and children participated in artist-led workshops.

The majority of visitors to the gallery were from Leigh, Hindley, Tyldesley and Atherton. Partly as a result of a feature on BBC Radio Manchester, visitors also came from Oldham, Bury, Rochdale, St Helens and Manchester.

Robot attracted a wide variety of people including teenagers and toddlers, young families and older adults, disabled people and community groups.

Selected comments included:
"Today was really good and different. thank you"
"I loved making my own robot."
"It's totally awesome!"
"Fabulous! We're visiting from the USA and we loved the exhibition and robot craft."
"Fabulous idea for the kids."

The principal artifacts are sourced from a variety of sources including museums, leading auction houses, film studios, TV prop departments, costumiers, prop makers, private institutions and individuals. To our knowledge, our original screen used costumes and props, licensed props personal items or fan-made look-a-like items have been acquired free of any resale or public display restrictions.  Our collections are entirely independent, not affiliated to, endorsed (nor supported) by any individual film production company. N. B. We recommend that you familiarise yourself with collection prior to booking.
The general condition of these items props and costumes is entirely consistent with use and purpose. In some case, distressed appearance is what gives these props their sense of reality, allowing us to suspend our belief. This aged patina is achieved by the prop-maker and accentuated by lighting on set or CGI.
For the most part, these items were not created for close scrutiny nor ironically for display. Although movie props and costumes may not look as slick as they can appear on screen, it is this very quality which make this such a fascinating and seductive exhibition. It's a behind the scenes look at a unique part of movie making history.
